Losing your favorite piece of writing and not being able to continue it is truly like an earthquake, rolling inside of you! I know this because I, too, am a writer and each and every day, even when I am busy with baggages of work to do on my back, I think of my characters and I think what I could do with them and I'm excited for them to continue on their lives that I gave them! Plant the seed in your mind that all your characters could cease to existence, that nothing in your story had never happened at all. Or, how about you think of all the times you cried and begged every night for your favorite manga to not be on hiatus anymore, such as NANA by Ai Yazawa, or think of all the times that you couldn't take the time that it took for new manga chapters to come out or new anime episodes. Think of waiting for that time for so much longer, with the chapter never coming out.

Try buying a package of manga pens for your artwork instead of your pencil. It will make your artwork look more professional and will make it look more like a manga.
Going to an art class or looking at tutorials is very smart. They teach you different techniques on how to draw manga. You should look at the same tutorial for a long period of time so that you memorize how to do the steps and you can soon do it on your own and impress others around you! Art classes are really great because your teacher can guide you personally and can help you a lot when you are confused about something.
Change up your methods of coloring your artwork. Watercolor pencils are really cool and is an easy way to make your artwork look fancy, since it is like paint, but easier to use since they are in the form of pencils, as pencils are easier to use to color small spaces. Pastels are personally, my favorite though to color my artwork with because I can color just a little bit with the pastel some place and then I can smear it across my artwork so that there is a light tone to it, as it also makes it look like oil paint. Sometimes I even like to put some eyeshadow or nail polish to my artwork to make it have an extra effect too! Don't look at my artwork that is on the site though; that was when I was a manga/anime artist beginner! My artwork is so good now and I really should put it up on deviantart, though my scanner hasn't been working for like a year or so... @.@. Lastly, try doing mixed media! Using photoshop to add color and special effects to your artwork will make your artwork look amazing!
